Focus on Innovation - Development of the BIS Blast Suit
The NEW BIS Blast Suit is an innovative alternative to existing products on the market, which are traditionally ill-fitting, uncomfortable and restrictive. Enhancing safety and productivity has been the core focus with the development of the new suit which offers significant benefits as highlighted below:
Multi-purpose: With its unique design the BIS Blast Suit is suitable for use with dry blasting, wet blasting and power washing activities. This creates significant cost savings to the client by dramatically reducing the requirement for multiple PPE equipment. The BIS Blast Suit can also be used during rope access activities.
Safety: The suit's innovative ‘triple layer' material offers extra protection to help withstand blast pressure up to 90psi. Unlike conventional designs, this thicker material and padded interior surrounds the body, offering 360° full body protection.
Flexibility: The legs and arms of the suit are 75mm longer than standard suits to reduce exposure of limbs during movements with a heel restraining strap to prevent the suit riding up on the leg. To further increase the versatility of the suit, gauntlet connection points have also been sewn into the arms and boot covers.
Durability: The highly durable material ensures the suit has a high puncture resistance and tear-resistance and does not shrink over time.
Comfort: This flexible, lightweight suit offers increased comfort to the wearer. This has been proven to increase productivity and efficiency. During development, BIS Salamis has also taken significant steps to ensure the suit makes the wearer's job as easy as possible, incorporating solutions such as adjustable snap connectors which enable the safe storage of gloves when conducting complex activities
